Quite enjoying this rather slim book. Has great insights and information; for example on page 63, mentions a 1970 poll in the US that revealed that almost 90% of the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies favored more regulations because it created a more level ground of competition.
And he lambasts the rise neoliberalism in the 1980s like this; "resurrecting long-discredited and demonstrably false shibboleths about the market's being its own best regulator"
The world-wide conomic crisis during Bush Jr.'s 2nd term demonstrated that fallacy yet again.
And yet, pro business magazines like the Economist's mantra is always more deregulation...
Another gem on p. 68;
Republicans after WWI(dunno if this was during FDR's administration) opposed building interstate highway program as "a form of creeping socialism"
